AIPF Press Release – 29th Aug, 2018
All India People’s Forum(AIPF) demands the immediate release of human and democratic rights activists Sudha Bharadwaj, Gautam Nalakha, Vernon Gonsalves, Varavara Rao and Kranti. Their arrests on 28 August, follow large scale raids at the residences of the activists who have been raising their voices for the rights of adivasis and dalits.
Pune Police have claimed arrests and raids are on the basis FIR lodged after Bhima Koregaon violence. The activists have been arrested under sedition charges and sections of UAPA.
AIPF condemns the government’s move to present Bhima Koregaon event as an act of terrorism. It has been commemorated for decades by dalits of Maharastra. By arresting human rights activists, the RSS led BJP government is taking forward its casteist brahmanical agenda and trying to distract attention from the terror acts of RSS supported organisations such as Santhan Sanstha and Shiv Pratishtan, whose involvement in fomenting violence is now getting clearly established.
AIPF condemns BJP government’s attempt to crack down upon voices of democracy. The fascists designs of the government are clearly visible as it supports communal and casteist storm troopers and lynch mobs, while protest are being silenced through raids and arrests. This is nothing short of an undeclared Emergency. AIPF calls all democratic voices to unite and resist the fascists design of the government.
On 30th August 2018, at 4 pm , a Joint protest of citizens and democratic organisations is being held at Parliament Street, Delhi. AIPF calls all progressive voices to unite and resist the fascist onslaught on our democracy.

Resist fascist design of the RSS led-BJP government !
